God Calls Moses to Help the Israelites
One day, while Moses was tending sheep, he saw a burning bush that never burned up! God spoke from the bush and told Moses He had seen how the Israelites were suffering as slaves in Egypt. God had heard their cries and wanted Moses to lead them to freedom.
Moses was worried. “What if they don’t believe me?” he asked. To help Moses, God gave him three amazing signs:
- Moses’ staff turned into a snake when he threw it on the ground, then turned back into a staff when he picked it up.
- His hand became sick with leprosy when he placed it inside his cloak but was healed when he put it back in again.
- Water from the Nile River turned into blood when he poured it on the ground.
These miracles would prove that God had sent Moses to rescue the Israelites. But Moses still had doubts—he wasn’t a strong speaker! So, God chose his brother Aaron to help him.

Moses & Aaron Bring Hope to the Israelites
Moses and Aaron met with the leaders of the Israelites. Aaron shared God’s message: He had seen their suffering and was going to rescue them! The people were overjoyed and worshiped God, thanking Him for His love.
Pharaoh Makes Life Harder
Next, Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. They told him that God wanted the Israelites to take a three-day trip to worship Him in the desert. But Pharaoh refused! Instead of letting them go, he made their work even harder.
Pharaoh ordered the slave masters to stop giving the Israelites straw to make bricks, but they still had to make the same number as before. The Israelites struggled, and when they couldn’t keep up, they were punished. Pharaoh called them lazy and ignored their complaints.
Feeling hopeless, the Israelites blamed Moses and Aaron for their troubles.

Moses Feels Discouraged
Seeing the people suffer, Moses turned to God in frustration. “Why did You send me if things are only getting worse?” he asked.
God reassured Moses: “You will see My power soon. Pharaoh will have no choice but to let My people go.”
Even though the Israelites were too discouraged to listen, Moses continued to share God’s message of hope.
A Lesson in Trusting God
Sometimes, obeying God doesn’t make things easier right away. The Israelites thought life would instantly improve when Moses arrived, but instead, things got harder.
Just like them, we may feel upset when things don’t go as planned. But even when we don’t see it, God is working behind the scenes. His timing is perfect, and He always keeps His promises!
No matter how tough things get, we must keep trusting that God is leading us to something better.
